Benefits Of Membership
You get to use your skills in a way which is demonstrably good for society…..taking money out of your pocket and putting it into a tin is conscience salving but using your skills is much more valuable and worthwhile.

What do I get from being a Pilotlighter?
Our members tell us that through working with Pilotlight they can:
- Have a long-lasting impact on the success and sustainability of a charity and the disadvantaged people they serve
- See the impact their team is having through our evaluation work
- Learn about the voluntary sector
- Learn new skills from their fellow Pilotlighters and how to approach challenges in a different way
- Use their skills in a completely different environment
- Broaden their perspective on life
- Build contacts with a very diverse network of senior professionals
All of this can be achieved in only 3 hours a month.
How do we work?
Led by a Pilotlight Project Manager, our teams of ‘Pilotlighters’ work with our charities to develop their strategic planning capabilities, initially resulting in a business plan.
The issues addressed may be as diverse as financial management, income diversification or re-branding – all focused within the overall strategic direction of each charity.
- Members are placed in complementary skill-based teams of 3-4 and matched with the charities
- All meetings are organised, run and minuted by Pilotlight Project Managers
- On average, members attend one meeting every 4-6 weeks lasting around 2-3 hours, based on their own availability
- The aim is energy efficiency for all parties
Our role is to take the risk and uncertainty out of the process and match you with a charity that we are confident can benefit from your time and skills.
